Gynaecological Conditions

Many women live with symptoms for a long time without knowing what's causing them – several gynaecological conditions are underdiagnosed and not always taken seriously.

At Dr.Dropin, you'll meet experienced gynaecologists who listen and investigate, whether it's pain, bleeding or changes in the genital area. Below you can read more about some of the most common concerns and how we can help you.

Endometriosis

Severe period pain, pain during sex or difficulty getting pregnant can be signs of endometriosis – a chronic condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. It affects around one in ten women, but takes eight years on average to diagnose.

PCOS - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Irregular periods, unwanted hair growth, acne or difficulty getting pregnant can be signs of PCOS – one of the most common hormonal conditions in women of reproductive age. With the right assessment and individually tailored treatment, the symptoms can often be eased.

PMS and PMDD

Mood swings, anxiety or intense pain in the days before your period isn't something you simply have to endure. Most people who menstruate notice PMS, but PMDD is a more severe form that causes pronounced psychological and physical symptoms and can significantly affect daily life. Help is available for both.

Menstrual Bleeding Problems

Heavy, irregular or prolonged bleeding can have many causes – from hormonal imbalances to fibroids and polyps. A gynaecological examination can help clarify what's behind it and which treatment suits you.

Cervical Smear Test

A cervical smear test is taken to detect early changes on the cervix, often before they cause any symptoms. All women between 23 and 64 are recommended to take the test regularly as part of cervical cancer screening.

Vestibulitis

Vestibulitis causes pain, stinging or a burning sensation at the vaginal opening, often during sex or tampon use. The condition is more common than many think, and with the right diagnosis, effective treatment is available.

Absent Periods

When your period stops without you being pregnant, it can be due to stress, hormonal imbalances, PCOS or low body weight. A gynaecologist can help investigate the cause and advise on what can be done.

Lichen

Lichen sclerosus is a chronic skin condition of the genital area that causes itching, burning and white skin changes. It's often mistaken for a fungal infection but requires different treatment. With the right diagnosis and follow-up, the symptoms can be kept under control.

Vaginal Discharge

Vaginal discharge is a common gynaecological condition that can be caused by infection, hormonal changes or other factors. Abnormal discharge may vary in colour, consistency and odour, and should be assessed by a doctor. With the right diagnosis and treatment, most cases are quickly resolved.

Colposcopy

Colposcopy is an examination of the cervix performed following abnormal smear test results. Using a magnifying instrument, the doctor can closely inspect the tissue and take biopsies if needed. The procedure plays a key role in detecting and monitoring precancerous changes in the cervix.
